Type Locality and Naming

The Ramaif Fm ends the section of the Alichur Gr. This is the lowermost/fourth formation in Alichur Gr.

Synonym: Ramaifskaya Suite, Рамаифская свита

Lithology and Thickness

Predominantly consists of cataclased biotite schists. The incomplete thickness is 1500 m. Among them, there are layers of colorful biotite, mica, chlorite, and chlorite-sericite shales. The shales contain thin (up to 2 m) layers and lenses of marble.

Lower contact

This is the oldest formation in Rushan range.

Upper contact

Schematic stratigraphic column indicates the upper contact as Marganay Fm

Regional extent

It is developed in the Southwestern Pamir- Rushan, Alichur, and Wakhan ranges.
